Technology

All technological processes run in the Volkswagen Poznan plants are designed with a view of ensuring maximum care for the environment.

Closed water circuits, heat recovery and the Concept of Chemical Substance Management are only some solutions applied in the Volkswagen plants.

The company uses the latest technologies, devices and utilities management systems reducing its impact on the environment. However, it is not everything. Volkswagen Poznan constantly sets new goals to be reached.

Air protection against pollution

One of the criteria for implementation of Volkswagen Poznan investment projects is the question of air quality. The latest technologies and highly efficient reduction devices minimise the production's impact on the environment. In order to monitor the applied solutions the company systematically examines the impact of emissions on the environment.

A chimney of the Paint Shop is equipped with devices measuring and monitoring volatile organic compounds. Measurements and analyses of the results are performed every 3 seconds. Owing to that, Volkswagen Poznan plant can monitor atmospheric emission values.

Reduction in carbon dioxide emissions

Thanks to continuous analysis of production processes, Volkswagen Poznan plants reduce energy consumption thus directly triggering reduction in carbon dioxide emissions. Where possible, the company applies recuperation, i.e. heat recovery. The plant's boiler house as well as heating and technological devices are fuelled with natural gas - the most ecological fuel available in Wielkopolska.

Water and sewage management

One of the production process's priorities is the concern for water cleanliness and use. Volkswagen Poznan achieves these objectives owing to the use of closed water circuits as well as filtering and flushing of water. Before leaving the plant, waste water is subject to purification and remains under control of the plant's laboratory.Additionally, on the premises of Volkswagen Poznan plants there are 23 measuring points conducting constant monitoring of ground waters.

Waste management

The vehicle production process and founding parts is planned in a way preventing and reducing the amount of waste. However, in order to better dispose of waste, Volkswagen Poznan implemented the Waste Management Approach regulating disposal of waste, its recovery and utilisation while complying with the environmental policy.

Volkswagen pays significant attention to recovery of recyclable materials such as: waste paper, plastic and non-ferrous metals. Segregation of production waste is performed in places they are generated from.

Chemical Compliance

Volkswagen Poznan is aware of ecological risks related to chemical substances. Our company uses the Concept of Chemical Substance Management which includes the basic information and principles of handling chemical substances and preparations. Trained specialists ensure that the disposal of chemical substances and preparations is safe. Certified cabinets for dangerous substances, spillage containers, impregnating tanks - are only some of the devices ensuring the plant's chemical safety.
