AZS AWF Poznań
The women’s handball team was reactivated in the capital of Wielkopolska in September 2006 after a few years of absence in the sports environment.Until the end of 2007 the team represented MKS Malta Poznań and in January 2008 it was taken over by the Sports Club AZS AWF Poznań.Since the very beginning, the team has been run by coach Stanisław Igel.
The Poznań team is based mainly on women students from the University School of Physical Education in Poznań.Since 2006 the team was twice promoted to the Women’s First League where it played in the seasons of 2008/2009 and 2010/2011.7th position ensured the Academic players a position right below the Super League in the season 2011/2012.During summer holidays, some of the players also participate in tournaments for the Cup of Poland and Poland’s Championship in beach handball.
The popular Poznań players have already won two gold and three silver Poland’s Championship medals.The girls are now leaders of the European Beach Handball Tour which is the unofficial club Championship of Europe.
