Pressure Casting Plant
Production of pressure castings is performed mostly in automated pressure casing stations, which work with the use of machines that force the metal into the moulds under the weight of 1650 t and 1350 t. Machines with the force of 500 t constitute a supplement to our production capacity. The principal product in this production area is steering column housing, i.e. tube housing of the steering wheel shaft connecting the bearing of steering wheel hub with the housing of the steering gear mechanism. Every third car produced by the concern has a steering gear housing from Poznań. Second and third generation PQ and APA housings leave the Volkswagen Poznań Casting Plant after final treatment and are transferred to an external company for anodizing, and then to the customer's assembly line. Our products include both housings for steering gears with electro-mechanical (e.g. APA, PQ35, GM) and hydraulic (e.g. PL6, Q5, B8) power steering.
