About Us

Volkswagen Poznań is a modern, independent commercial car factory where the Caddy and Caddy Maxi Delivery Vans are manufactured for the car markets all over the world. Also the Transporter T5 models are manufactured here, of which versions of car bodies with single and double cab are produced exclusively in Poznań.

Volkswagen Poznań has been present on the Polish market for more than 15 years. The company was established in 1993 as a joint venture of Volkswagen AG and Tarpan Poznań. In 1996, Volkswagen Poznań became in 100% a daughter company of the Volkswagen AG concern, and one year later the part of Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles make. At present, our factory is, besides the Hannover factory, the second largest factory of the concern, producing the commercial vehicles.

The production facilities of our company are located in three locations. In Poznań, Antoninek quarter, we have the car body construction division, assembly division and paint shop, while in Wilda quarter our casting plant is located. In Swarzędz near Poznań we have facilities where production of welded assemblies, assembly of cockpits and production of special car bodies are performed. In Swarzędz our Logistics and Suppliers Centres are also located. All our plants, in addition to up-to-date manufacturing technologies, also implemented advanced solutions and programmes to assist the environment protection.

From the very beginning of our presence in Greater Poland (Wielkopolska) region, our company actively supports the local communities. We commit ourselves to numerous initiatives of inhabitants of Poznań and surrounding villages. In 2008, Volkswagen Poznań donated the amount of almost a quarter of a million of PLN to charity. First of all, we direct our support to the youngest inhabitants of our region. Out of concern for their development and safety, Volkswagen Poznań built or shared the costs of building playgrounds in Poznań and Swarzędz. In 2008, our company handed over its computer hardware to more than 60 organizations, primary schools and nursery schools. Volkswagen Poznań cooperates also with public benefit organisations and local parishes of Greater Poland.
Our company is also a partner for the Polish sport. In the autumn of 2008, Volkswagen Poznań established a partner cooperation with the Polish Handball Federation. During Euro 2008, our company was the Official Supplier of Cars for the Football Team of Poland. For several years now, Volkswagen Poznań has continued its cooperation with the Flying Club of Poznań (Aeroklub Poznański) and supported the Foundation for Greater Poland Rowing (Fundacja Wielkopolskie Wioślarstwo) – the organizer of Rowing World Cup at the Malta regatta track in 2008. 180x160.jpg
180x160_Obraz_059_cr.jpg For a few years Volkswagen Poznań has continued its cooperation with the high schools in Poznań. Volkswagen Poznań refers the students and graduates of the universities of Poznań to its comprehensive offer of apprenticeships, internships and scholarships. The best students of Poznań University of Technology (Politechnika Poznańska) can be granted a scholarship "Best from the Best" and studies at the Cottbus Technical University under "Engineer Development Program". In 2005, on the initiative of Volkswagen Poznań, Starostwo Powiatowe (district authority) and Poznań Centre for Continuous and Practical Education (Centrum Edukacji Ustawicznej i Praktycznej w Poznaniu), in the Complex of Schools No. 1 in Swarzędz (Zespół Szkół Nr 1 w Swarzędzu) a class with extended vocational curriculum in mechatronics was started. In 2008, first graduates found employment in Volkswagen Poznań factories.

 

During 15 years of ist presence in the Polish market, the activity of Volkswagen Poznań was honoured with numerous prizes and awards. VW Poznań factories constantly take high positions in the rankings of companies by the most important editorial offices and economic organisations. In 2006, Volkswagen Poznań was awarded, during the AutoCEE, the title of the most effective car fatory of Central and Eastern Europe in 2006. On a number of occasions in recent years, among others, Puls Biznesu recognized Volkswagen Poznań as "Pillar of the Polish Economy" (Filar Polskiej Gospodarki) (2006), Rynki Zagraniczne Magazine recognized Volkswagen Poznań as "Outstanding Polish Exporter" (Wybitny Polski Eksporter) (2007), while Stowarzyszenie Eksporterów Polskich (Association of Polish Exporters) recognized VW Poznań as "Eminent Exporter of 2007" (Wybitny eksporter 2007), Newsweek Polska granted our company the first position in the ranking of "100 most valuable firms in Poland in the automotive industry" (2008).
For a long time, Volkswagen Poznań has been positioned at the top of the ranking "Gold Firms of Greater Poland" (Złote firmy Wielkopolski) organized by Głos Wielkopolski (daily paper). In 2008, Marshall of the Wielkopolskie Voivodship (Marszałek Województwa Wielkopolskiego) granted the "Badge of Honour" (Odznaka Honorowa) to the concern for its merits for our region.
