Mechatronics
Since September 2005, Volkswagen Poznań in cooperation with the Complex of Schools No. 1 in Swarzędz (Zespół Szkół Nr 1 w Swarzędzu) and the Poznań Centre for Continuous and Practical Education (PCEUiP - Centrum Edukacji Ustawicznej i Praktycznej – Centrum Kształecenia Praktycznego w Poznaniu) conduct vocational training in a new profile: MECHANIC-MECHATRONIC. This profession may be considered, without doubt, as the profession of the future, since it combines the knowledge from many various areas – mechanics, electronics, information technology, pneumatics and hydraulics. Moreover, training in this class was enriched with extended program in the German language and some technical subjects.
Duration of training:
The training period in the trade of mechatronic is 3 years. During this period the students are employed by Volkswagen Poznań as junior workers.
Qualifications
The trade requires spatial imagination, interest in engineering, good knowledge of mathematics, and the ability of working in a team. Volkswagen Poznań will provide for training on the highest class mechatronic equipment and expert support of its employees.
What are the responsibilities of a mechatronic?
- Installation and maintenance of electrical units and components.
- Installation of units and parts in machines and systems.
- Assembly and disassembly, and control of machines, systems and equipment.
Course of Training
- The students gain the theoretical knowledge at the Complex of Schools No. 1 in Swarzędz.
- The practical training is conducted at the Poznań Centre for Continuous and Practical Education (PCEUiP) in Poznań. The students construct here the so called "mechatronic models", the completion of which needs 3 years. The students gain a lot of skills during this time, starting from mechanical treatments, and finishing with computer programming.
- During the second and third year, the students have a practical training at Volkswagen Poznań Maintenance Department.

Additional Activities
- Exchange of mechatronic students between Polish and German schools, in order to improve the vocational skills.
- After school attractions:
- A visit to the Volkswagen Motor Polska factory in Polkowice.
- The graduates, besides the certificate in accordance with the Polish regulations may optionally take an exam before the special German commission, and achieve a German certificate.
