Logistics and Procurement
In order to build 700 cars in each day we need 1,000,000 parts which must be delivered in proper quantities, places and times. To control the promptness of deliveries of each such part is a great challenge. The parts arrive to Volkswagen Poznań from 800 different suppliers from Poland, Europe and the World. They are delivered to the factory in 600 different containers, loaded on 130 lorries and 10 railway carriages which arrive to our factory every day.
In order to control all these matters, the skills of analytical thinking are not sufficient. What is also necessary is imagination, excellent organization and coordination combined with a good dose of experience. German discipline and Polish daring are also useful for each logistician employed by Volkswagen Poznań. There is no room for hesitation or mistakes here. Blizzard in Russia, strike in Italy, traffic jam on the highway? Nothing is in a position to prevent the necessary parts from being delivered on schedule! The production must go on without any disturbances!
