The Volkswagen Poznań Mini Handball Cup is a program addressed at boys and girls from grade three of primary schools. Eleven schools from the neighbourhood of our company in Poznań and Swarzędz participate in the project.
Mini Handball is a tournament formula especially for children who begin their adventure with handball. By joint exercises they develop their social abilities in line with fair play and a team spirit collaborating in a team. Additionally, they are able to develop their motor skills, movement coordination and overall fitness.
Now the program is in its second edition – totally 345 children have participated in the program since September 2009. This is an answer to problems increasingly encountered by the society – no habit of active spending free time. The program provides also for extension of social dialogue areas with our neighbours.
The project is organised by Volkswagen Poznań in collaboration with the Wielkopolski Handball Union.
The ambassador of the second program edition is Artur Siódmiak – a member of Poland’s national handball team, player of TuS Nettelstedt-Lübbecke.
The tournament is divided into three stages. The first round is organised in the winter semester, the second round in the summer semester – in those stages each school will organise one tournament in its respective region. The teams will fight for points and small medals.
The third stage will the Grand Finals to be organised in June 2011 and attended by all teams participating in the project. The games will be fought “each team against each team” – all teams will have equal chances to win the cup and gold medal.
