Casting Plant
The Poznań Casting Plant is one of the factories owned by Volkswagen Poznań Sp. z o.o. The factory was established in 1996. Initially, it performed auxiliary functions for the Hannover Casting Plant. In mid 1996 the factory was transferred to the site hired from Zakłady Hipolita Cegielskiego. In mid 1999 a series production of die-castings and pressure castings was started. In the area of the factory there are two production halls with total area of approx. 50,000 m2.
The production capacities of the casting plant are approx. 26,000 t of aluminium castings per year. Here, with the use of modern technologies, castings with very complex shapes and meeting the highest quality requirements are produced. These are: pressure castings for steering gear housings and gravity castings for cylinder heads, the cores for which are manufactured using both the Hot-Box method and, since 2008, Cold-Box method.
The production can be divided into two areas, i.e. gravity casting and pressure casting.
